Pricing
|
With over 20 models to choose from and supplier prices
changing monthly, prices can't be posted on the web as they
will change. Pricing of the range is available on request
as a USD base price and an estimated freight cost. This
can be converted to your currency at the exchange rate of
the day but final pricing will be subject to the exchange
rate at time of ordering and of course, the options you
choose. Freight remains an estimate as shipping prices are
subject to demand and fuel prices, so that is finalised at
the time of shipment.

 |
From comparing to local boats, we find we are around 1/3
less expensive on custom boats and 1/4 less expensive on
local production boats. However, it's very hard to compare
due to the models we offer are not exactly the same shape,
volume and finish as local built boats. We believe we offer
much more for the dollar and can demonstrate this by showing
you our product and for you to analyse carefully the specifications
and volume of other offerings.
|
Much more importantly however, we can offer safe payment terms
to reduce the risk of building as outlined in the payments paragraph
below.
Ordering
|
This process can take weeks or months as you
decide what options suit your needs. We work on this together
via email and meetings and you may even wish to visit the
yard to see how advanced China has become in the last 10
years. As a destination, China is worthy of a visit, very
rich in culture and history. Along with so much 5 star luxury
accommodation at such an affordable price plus great sights
and shopping makes the trip very memorable.
|
|
Delivery times vary depending on workload at the yard. 9-10
months is average plus a month shipping. Allow a month of set-up,
sea-trials, adding your local fitted options, any trouble-shooting
new systems and generally getting to know your boat before starting
your adventure.
Payments
One of the advantages of ordering from overseas is the Letter
of Credit (L.C) facility. We can accept deposits paid into a reputable
Lawyers trust account for deposits and stage payments that are
released at the same time as the L.C. The final balance can be
via L.C so your money is always safe.
I once had the unpleasant experience with a local boat-builder
in my home town going broke halfway through our first Catamaran
project in 1997. This left us with the awful surprise to find
the job was under-costed and the profit was drawn out before it
was made. We then had to find a new yard to finish our dream boat
and the headaches, legal issues and delays were not good.
This is an experience I don't wish upon anybody. Lessons have been learnt.
Boat building normally is a very pleasant and rewarding experience
so we wish to make an arrangement that protects your money and
reduces the risk. Oddly enough, it can be safer to buy from overseas
than locally because of the L.C system.
|
The L.C system means the final major payment only passes
over when the boat is on the ship and under your control.
The banks release the payment when the Bill of Lading is
presented along with a signed certificate of completion.
This document is signed by the customer (or representative)
and builder after pre-shipping inspection that everyone
is happy with the finished product. At that time, the deposits
that can be in trust accounts are then also released.
|
|
|
|
L.C's have to be raised 60 days before shipment which means
the funds have to be secured by the bank in your account
for that period but you get to keep the interest on that
one. The Trust account interest goes to the builder. The
L.C 60 day raising date assures the builder that he will
get paid and the buyer knows he will get a completed boat
before payments are released.
There are extra bank and legal costs with the L.C and Trust
account deposit system but if it makes everyone feel more
comfortable, it is worth it.
|
|
Typical payment structures are as follows:
Smaller boats (32-45ft, Approx NZD$350,000-$1m):
30 % deposit on ordering, 65% via L.C when the boat is on
board the ship and 5% when sea-trialled at your place of
delivery and cleaned up to your satisfaction.
Larger Boats (50-70ft, Approx NZD$1.5-$3.2m):
30% deposit, 30% when engines are installed, 37% by L.C
when the boat is on board the ship and 3% when sea-trialled
at your place of delivery and cleaned up to your satisfaction. |
