Raised Pilothouse Cruising Boats
Raised Pilothouse boats are making a strong presence in New Zealand
as people realise their space advantages are a benefit over the
conventional flybridge sports fisher. The US boaters have been
fans of Pilothouse boats for many years as having the 3 levels
and a long open flybridge gives multiple choices for outdoor and
indoor entertaining.
A large boat deck on the flybridge keeps larger "explorer" tenders
aboard without spoiling the bow lines and when the tender is deployed,
the boat deck is a great sunbathing area. There is a cockpit dinette,
flybridge dinette or pilothouse dinette so whatever the weather,
there is always a comfortable place ready to dine or sit for a
social hour. The salon is not part of the galley but semi-detached
so the chef can get on with the cooking and have a little peace
and privacy. 3 generous guest cabins for 6 guests and 2 heads
with granite benches make raised pilothouse boats a winner for
longer cruises.
If game-fishing is not the priority but comfortable cruising is,
then the pilothouse layout is the clear preference. Large duckboards
for diving and fishing still cater for recreational water sports
while the rest of the team have plenty of choice in relaxation
area's which keeps the whole team happy and together.
